UN INTERNAT A PARIS
When Rachel Howard was searching for the ideal tertiary institution to study her dream career of International Relations, high on her list of priorities was a university that could provide her with hands on experience in the field.
She began studying International Relations at Bond in January 2010 and towards the end of her studies was offered a three month internship with Austrade in Paris. Based at the Australian Embassy, just a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower, Rachel has been updating reports, conducting extensive research projects and experiencing the fast-paced Austrade working environment.
“My internship at Bond has allowed me to not only live in a vibrant city like Paris but also to gain a unique insight into life in an embassy and the day to day work functions that are undertaken there,” said Rachel.
As an added bonus to her internship experience Rachel has been able to travel to other countries in Europe including Spain and Holland, where she has attended international education fairs and completed administrative tasks that have provided her with a vital insight into diplomatic functions and processes.
One of the highlights of Rachel’s role is her office location, which has a large window overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
In December Rachel will return to Australia to complete her degree and explore further opportunities within the diplomatic and international relations fields.
