FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Stable I am very pleased to advise that the Federal Government has approved $3 million in funding (payable in 2010) towards the cost of our new building for the Bond University Mirvac School of Sustainable Development.

BOND NEWS
INVESTING IN YOUR FUTURE

The decisions of what and where to study and how to finance a university degree are important ones – they affect future career direction, earning potential and quality of life. But with Australian students enjoying greater freedom and choice than ever before when it comes to selecting a higher education provider, making those decisions can be difficult.

Bond University offers ‘Investing in Your Future’ seminars that can help eliminate the confusion students and their parents often face when deciding on a university by providing answers to questions such as; ‘How do I finance my degree?’; ‘How do I apply for university?’; and ‘What scholarships are available to me?’.

The free seminars clearly outline the Bond University promise – a fast-tracked degree, a personalised education approach and a world-class learning environment - and provide details of Bond’s $7.5 million scholarship program. And, as the name ‘Investing in Your Future’ suggests, the seminars also deliver a comprehensive explanation of the variety of options available to students to help pay for their tuition fees.

A university degree is one of the most important investments a person can make in their lifetime. As with all investments, the rate of return of both the short-term career opportunities and the long-term lifetime earnings must be taken into consideration.

Bond’s three-semesters-per-year program allows students to graduate up to a year earlier than their peers at other universities, seeing them out in the workplace earning higher starting salaries sooner (The 2008 Good Universities Guide rates Bond University five stars for graduate starting salaries).

There are a number of options available to assist students with financing their investment in a Bond University education, from student loan schemes and government assistance packages like FEE-HELP, to earn while you learn and work study agreements, tax deductibility and scholarships.

As a private, not-for-profit university, Bond University re-invests 100% of tuition fees back into the university, allowing it to offer world-class facilities, state-of-the-art learning resources, a lower student to staff ratio and access to Australia’s leading academics and corporate achievers.

For more information about financing a university education at Bond University, attend the Investing in Your Future Seminar on 17 December at 6.15pm. To register, visit www.bond.edu.au/investinginyourfuture or phone 1800 074 074.

Even so, there aren’t too many who seriously believe they’ll be working with the likes of Hollywood mega-star Mel Gibson and Oscar-winning director, Steven Soderbergh.
