With construction of the Main Library’s new wing now complete, the long-awaited refurbishment of the Library’s principal service floors (Level 2 and the Mezzanine floor) is underway.
Temporary Facilities for the Main Library during Semester 2
For the duration of Semester 2, temporary library facilities in the new wing are in place while Level 2 and the Mezzanine are closed for refurbishment. During the renovations access to the Main Library is via the entrance to Level 3 of the new wing which is located up the ramp between the Library and the Business Faculty building. The temporary inconvenience of moving the entrance away from the main campus quadrangle is essential to allow for the refurbishment of the Main Library’s service floors.
In the past few weeks, Library users have commented on the demolition noise which is reverberating throughout the building. This level of noise is unavoidable but should soon abate as the demolition work is completed and the project moves on to the internal fit out of the building. We apologise for any inconvenience and will shortly be providing earplugs for anyone who would like to use them.
Facilities in the new wing include:
Levels 3 and 4 of the existing Library remain essentially unchanged with the General Collection and quiet study areas on Level 3 being accessible via a door connecting the rear of the new wing to the existing Library. The Library lift will still provide access to the Journals Collection, group study rooms and further quiet study areas on Level 4.
By Semester Three students will be enjoying the great new facilities in the refurbished Library, including state-of-the-art collaboration spaces, high quality digital technology as well as the much anticipated Coffee Shop!
