ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOLADES

In this regular column we celebrate the many and varied successes of Bond University staff, students and Alumni.

This month we recognise the achievements of former Bond University Chancellor Elizabeth Nosworthy AO, Associate Professor of Marketing Dr Sudhir Kale, Associate Dean of Research and Innovation Dr Michael Rees and Professor of Law John Wade.

If you know of a good success story, please share it with us by emailing kristie_robinson@bond.edu.au.

Former Bond University Chancellor Elizabeth Nosworthy AO was this week presented with a prestigious honorary doctorate from the University of Queensland. She received a Doctor of the Laws honoris causa in recognition of her distinguished career and contribution to the community.
Ms Nosworthy served as Chancellor of Bond University during 1991 and 1992 and is believed to be the first woman to achieve such a high office at a Queensland university.
Current Bond University Chancellor Mr Trevor C Rowe AM congratulated Ms Nosworthy on her achievement, saying the honorary Doctorate reflected not only her successful professional career, but also her significant contribution to the broader community and the tertiary education sector.
"Her early involvement as the first female Chancellor of a university in Queensland helped steer Bond University to the excellent position we enjoy today of being recognised as one of the top three Australian universities, in the company of the University of New South Wales and University of Melbourne," Mr Rowe said.

Dr Sudhir KaleAssociate Professor Sudhir Kale in the School of Business delivered a keynote speech to delegates at the Third International Conference on Gaming Industry and Public Welfare in Beijing, China, on November 17, 2006. Dr. Mark Spence from the Faculty of Business also attended this high profile conference and delievered a refereed paper, "Designing an Appropriate Brand Image and Customer Gaming Experience in Macau," which he co-authored with Dr. Kale.
Dr. Kale has for some time been considered a world expert on the Marketing Aspects of Gaming. He has published over fifty papers on the marketing and management of casinos. His views on gaming and public policy have been quoted by media all over the world. He serves as a regular speaker at the Global Gaming Expo, the largest gaming forum in the world and serves as a faculty on the University of Nevada -- Reno's prestigious Execeutive Development Programme for senior gaming executives. Professor John WadeWell done to Professor John Wade of the Law Faculty who was chosen to contribute to ‘The Negotiator’s Fieldbook: The Desk Reference for the Experienced Negotiator’. Since the publication of the book, which is written primarily for the American Bar Association, positive endorsements have continued to flow in, hailing the book as "the most comprehensive coverage of negotiation practice by far" – James Wall, Curator’s Professor, School of business, University of Missouri.
Professor Wade was one of eighty authors chosen to contribute, and one of only three chosen from outside of the United States. His contributions include Crossing the Last Gap, Bargaining in the Shadow of the Tribe, Duelling Experts, and A Lasting Agreement, co-authored with Christopher Honeyman.
