DON'T GOOGLE IT... CENTRAL SEARCH IT!
|
Searching for information in the Library’s vast array of electronic resources has just been made a whole lot easier. In one easy step you can search across a wide range of databases and electronic resources, using the Library’s own search engine, Central Search.

GETTING THE MESSAGE ACROSS... DIGITALLY
|
If you have stepped inside the Main Library lately you would not have missed the new digital display monitor as you walk through the foyer.
Contrary to some early concerns, this is not a flat screen for watching the tellie! This new screen is designed to help keep Library customers up to date with timely and relevant information.

FILM ADAPTATION COLLECTION
|
Students studying films adapted from novels, plays and other genres now have a wonderful new resource at their fingertips. To assist students in this specialised field of study, the Library has created the Adaptation Collection which includes boxed sets of resources comprising a copy of the film on DVD, its screenplay and the original novel or play.

ARNIE GOES AWOL
|
The Terminator was abducted recently from the Law Library in a daring daylight raid. For most of the semester the Terminator was reminding students when borrowing from Course Reserve in the Law Library to hand the book(s) over at the front desk so they can be recorded as loans. Forgetting to do this makes it difficult for other students to locate Course Reserve books.

TRAVELLING LIBRARIAN
|
In December last year Wendy Abbott, Associate Director Customer Services, had a unique opportunity to visit Sur University College in the Sultanate of Oman as a member of the Bond University School of Business Quality Assurance Team. The purpose of her visit was to review the Library at Sur University College as part of the agreement between Bond University and Sur University College for the provision of quality assurance of the College’s degree programs.

NEW LOOK LIBRARY WEBSITE
|
The new look Library website was launched in early January and it has already received a lot of positive feedback from students and staff. It has also received a wonderful stamp of approval when it was featured in a keynote address at Information Online 2007 Exhibition and Conference held at the Sydney Convention Centre in early February.

EASIER WAY TO CHOOSE NEW BOOKS FOR THE LIBRARY
|
Academic Staff staff should soon be receiving information about new publications using a new electronic system the Library is trialling. Using two major book suppliers, DA Direct and Bennett’s, Liaison Librarians are setting up ‘profiles’ which describe Bond’s disciplinary areas for teaching and research. The suppliers will send Liaison Librarians regular electronic updates listing new books published that match the Bond profiles. The updates include a comprehensive description for each book and academic staff will be asked to select the books that they would like purchased for the Library from the lists.
The new electronic profiles will eliminate a great deal of labour intensive paper handling and will facilitate faster distribution of relevant information about new publications.
Academic staff are invited to try out the new system so please contact your Liaison Librarian if you would like to participate in the trial. |

| FROM THE DIRECTOR |
I am delighted to report about an all time high that Bond University Library has achieved in a customer satisfaction benchmarking survey involving most Australian and New Zealand university libraries, known as the Rodski survey. The area where we have surpassed the previous benchmark “high” is “The Library keeps me informed about new services and resources”. Thank you all for your confidence in us.
