ONLINE CAREERS HUB LAUNCHED

The Career Development Centre has launched CareerHub - a new online careers and employment portal for students, Alumni, staff and employers.

The most widely used careers portal among Australian Universities, (with 28 institutions currently on board), CareerHub is Bond University’s access point to hundreds of employers and employment opportunities both nationally and internationally.

Employment Services Specialist Kirsty Mitchell says CareerHub is designed to support the Career Development Centre in the provision of careers and employment information, resources, news and events.

"It’s not just job listings. This is career information on demand; from tips on writing a CV and interview techniques, to web resource links and program fact sheets with ideas on career outcomes.

"It also provides employers with a simple mechanism to promote employment and internship opportunities to the Bond community," she said.

"As a boutique university, we’re now included in a mainstream delivery of careers information. For example, some of Australia’s largest firms use CareerHub to promote their graduate programs, and now Bond students can be among the first to find out about those sorts of opportunities."

Having launched the portal only two weeks ago, Ms Mitchell said she was delighted with the enthusiastic response to CareerHub from students and employers alike.

"Already we have 500 students registered and 100 employers actively engaging with us.

"Feedback from the students has been fantastic, and they’re looking forward to more jobs being posted in the near future.

"For employers, this is about being part of a student’s decision set when it comes to them seeking graduate opportunities," Ms Mitchell said.

Employers already registered on the Bond University CareerHub include the Attorney General’s department, AlphaPharm, Amnesty International, Australian Taxation Office, B.P., CSIRO, Ford, the Macquarie Group, NAB, Suncorp Metway and large number of Federal Government Departments.

Ms Mitchell added that CareerHub is also a valuable resource for University staff, who are often approached by students for careers advice.

"A recent research paper by Graduate Careers Australia showed that students rate the career information they receive from Academics as among the most reliable.

"To best prepare themselves to offer the most up-to-date advice to students, staff can now arm themselves with latest industry employment trends and information by accessing the resources on CareerHub," Ms Mitchell said.

CareerHub can be accessed from the home page of the Career Development Centre homepage on the Bond University website: http://www.bond.edu.au/career-development.
