Welcome to the first edition of BULB or Bond University Library Bulletin which replaces the library newsletter - Fusion.
BULB is now available in a much more interactive way with a new format to make it easy for our readers to access, browse and read at their leisure. We know how busy everyone is with time being the most expensive resource. Hopefully BULB will provide you with useful and interesting information to save you lots of time in your busy schedule.

On 23rd May Bond welcomed Librarians from
Nanyang
Technological
University for talks on our experience in library space planning. Choy Fatt Cheong, University Librarian, Goh Su Nee, Head of Library Facilities Planning Unit and Gerry Wee Hwee Joon, Deputy Director (Architecture) were interested in the experience we have gained in the refurbishment of the John and Alison Kearney Law Library

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GET A TASTE OF BOND

During the semester break high school students from
Hillcrest
Christian
College , and
Nerang

High School , visited the Law Library. The visits provided students with the chance to use a variety of print resources to help them with their current studies and assignments. | |

THE LIBRARY TRANSBLOGRIFIED!

The L Files is the Library’s new communication channel. The blog is aimed at providing timely information on new services, events and tips for making the most of library resources while lessening the traffic in student and staff email accounts. | |

INTEGRATING LIBRARY RESOURCES INTO BLACKBOARD

At Bond the pilot subjects have got off to a good start. Library staff have created support web pages to assist academic staff with creating links to information resources. The Library features prominently in iLearn@Bond with a dedicated Library tab at the top level that provides search boxes for the Library Catalogue, e-Journal Portal and e-publications@bond as well as links to key library services. | |

ONLINE NEWSPAPERS VIA PRESSDISPLAY

Accessing national and international newspapers online is now easy through PressDisplay. PressDisplay provides access to 250 newspapers from 55 countries and is accessible from the Library’s Electronic Resources list. | |

E REFERENCE BOOKS TAKE OVER

If you want to find out who said “Some people think football is a matter of life and death…I can assure them it is much more serious than that”, then you will find the answer in the Library’s online reference books which include Oxford Reference Online, xreferplus and Encyclopedia Britannica Online. | |

NEW SCIENCE DIRECT ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS

| Science Direct is a vital resource for researchers and students in many disciplines. It includes the prestigious Elsevier and Academic Press journals. All Bond staff members and students can access the full-text of approximately 30 subscribed journals immediately when they search ScienceDirect on or off campus. | |

The Library staff strive to ensure their customers are well equipped to find and use the most relevant information they need in the most efficient, effective and economical manner. The students and staff at Bond have been taking advantage of the library staff expertise in a number of ways. The librarians have excellent skills in assisting you with identifying your information needs very quickly and then guiding you to the most appropriate resources so that you don’t waste time.

NEW STAFF - PAUL WHITE
Paul White has recently been appointed as the new Law Librarian for Bond- joining us a little over two months ago. Paul studied a Bachelor of Arts at the
University of
New England in Armidale, NSW before completing his postgraduate library studies at the Queensland University of Technology. Prior to joining
Bond
University , Paul was employed at a number of corporate libraries, including 9 years as a library manager in the Brisbane and Sydney offices of a leading national Australian law firm. Paul is currently waiting the birth of his first child – a girl – due in late June.

GILLIAN'S RETURN Gillian Coutinho recently returned to the Library after six months on maternity leave. She and husband John are the proud parents of a baby girl, Gemma Hope. Gemma has settled well at Day Care while Gillian is enjoying being back as Law Liaison Library in the Library from Monday to Thursday.
