Open DayBond University will go public this Sunday (August 17), with hundreds of students, their family, friends and the wider Gold Coast public set to enjoy the University’s Open Day festivities from 10am – 3pm.

For students considering tertiary study, Open Day provides the opportunity to talk to current students, graduates, staff, academics and professionals to plan their ideal career path and see why Bond is Queensland’s highest rated university in the 2009 Good Universities Guide.

Open Day, August 17

Australian Doctors' Orchestra - August 24

For the first time, The Australian Doctors' Orchestra (ADO) presents a charity performance for the Australian Lung Foundation (ALF) at the close of the Australian Lung Cancer Conference on Sunday 24 August 2.30 – 5.30pm at Bond University, Sports Hall, Level 2, Recreation Centre, Bond University University Drive, Robina on the Gold Coast.

The ADO comprises of GPs, undergraduates, graduates and specialists who come together each year at their own expense to play music and fundraise for charity. Comprising of more than 130 muscians, the orchestra will rehearse intensely for two days and then presents a three hour recital of classical music.

The ADO is conducted by Keith Crellin and features soloist Clemens Leske. Concert program includes Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Holst’s The Planets.

Local performers include Bond University’s own Dean of Medicine, Professor Chris Del Mar, who plays the viola and Bond medical student and percussionist, Philip Wong.

Cost is $40 for Adults, $30 for Pensioner/ Concession; $20 for Child/ Student; $85 for Family (2 adults, 2 children). Group discounts for groups of 20 or more are also available.
