As I hope you are all aware, Bond will be audited by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) during 12-15 April 2010. Whilst such audits are required by the legislation under which we operate, we actually welcome them as they allow us to prove that our standards are what we say they are and they help us identify areas where we can be even better.

IN MEMORIAM |
The Bond community will sorely miss our friend, colleague, teacher, mentor and student Titan Liu who passed away on Saturday, February 6 after a long illness, aged 30.
It is fair to say that Titan called Bond home. Born in Taiwan, he came in 1997 from The Southport School, where he excelled in Business Organisation, Languages and Music/Performing Arts. These passions were to be his major life influences, as he completed a Bachelor of Commerce in 1999, closely followed by his Bachelor of Law in 2001. Titan was often found playing the Grand Piano on campus. He once treated students and staff to a memorable music recital that is still very much talked about today. Titan completed his legal skills program and qualified as a solicitor in the State of NSW in 2002.
In 2001, Titan gained a position as Project Officer with the Australian Tax Office; however, the call back to Bond was strong and he returned to complete a Master of Accounting and consequently accepted a position as a Postgraduate Fellow in 2003. Titan was deeply engaged in the education of Finance students and anchored the Finance subject for the Bond BBT program in Japan where his Japanese language skills proved advantageous. Fluent also in Mandarin and Taiwanese, Titan co-led the innovative and gastronomic China Study Tour for Business students from 2005-2008 which focussed on seeing this country as a complete immersion cultural and business experience. Winning several Business Faculty Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Titan endeared and dedicated himself to the service of the University and the care of his students.
He continued a personal and deep commitment to life-long learning and reignited further study in Finance via a Master of Commerce (Hons) with a view of crossing over into fully fledged academic career. His research work examined contemporary security issuance in Australia.
A close friend and colleague summarised most effectively: “We are all so fortunate to have known Titan as a genuine, caring and gentle person. It is far too soon to say goodbye”. A memorial service is planned and future details to be circulated when known. We convey our deepest sympathy to his partner, Jeremy, his parents Patty and James, and sibling Jenny.
