This month we celebrate the re-establishment of Bond University Press and the publication of Professor Boulle's book The Law of Globalisation. We also congratulate Lindisfarne Anglican School, Rachel Mansted, Christopher Piggott-McKellar, Ben Daley (pictured), Cameron Anderson and the regional round winners of the law Faculty's High School Mooting Competition.
If you know of a good success story, please share it with Public Relations Manager Kristie Welsh at kwelsh@bond.edu.au.
We were delighted to re-launch Bond University Press and introduce the latest published work of Professor Laurence Boulle (Acting Dean, Faculty of Law) at a cocktail event on May 13. Professor Boulle's book The Law of Globalisation is a welcome teaching resource in this new field and looks at the different forms of law which create the legal infrastructure of economic globalisation.
Congratulations to Lindisfarne Anglican School, who took out first and second place at the 15th Annual ‘Best on the Coast’ Quiz, hosted by Tom Betts on May 15. The quiz pits teams of six of the most knowledgeable year 12 students from Gold Coast High Schools against each other for fun and glory. Thank you to our sponsors, Dell and Ricoh, who provided the lucky winners with a Dell computer and Ricoh printer for their school.
Well done to Law Alumnus Rachel Manstead on being awarded the Una Prentice Award for 2008. The annual award celebrates the top female law graduate from each law school in Queensland. The Law Faculty’s High School Mooting Competition is well underway, with the regional round winners so far being as follows:
-
Sydney - Presbyterian Ladies College & Newington College
-
Brisbane - Brisbane Girls Grammar School & Somerville House
-
Gold Coast - Nudgee College & St Hilda's School
-
Canberra - St Clare's College
-
Darling Downs - Ipswich Grammar School
(The Melbourne, North Queensland and Adelaide rounds are still yet to be decided). The finalists from the Malaysian rounds have also been confirmed, and we look forward to welcoming the teams from Lodge International School (Team A) and SM La Salle (Kota Kinabalu) for the final series in July.
Bond University student Christopher Piggott-McKellar, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) this weekend, has been appointed Youth Governor of the 13th YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament. Christopher has been involved in the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament for four years. He participated as the Youth Member for Keppel in 2005 and as Youth Member for Robina and Youth Premier in 2006. We congratulate Christopher on his appointment.
Well done to 19-year-old Law student Ben Daley, who made a stellar Super 14 debut for the Queensland Reds in their match against the Crusaders on May 10.
Bond Alumnus Cameron Anderson has landed a plum job presenting for Travel China, filming five episodes across different provinces so far. You can check out one of his latest episodes at: http://www.chinaontv.com/index.php/video_play_new/E11438.
