ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOLADES
|
This month we recognise Senior Teaching Fellow Tina Hunter from the Law Faculty (pictured), and Rugby League gun, Bond student Nuku Hifo. Plus, find out how you can nominate your favourite lecturer for the National Lecturer of the Year Competition.
Congratulations to Senior Teaching Fellow and Phd graduate Ms Tina Hunter from the Faculty of Law, who, based on the expertise she developed while completing her PhD on the petroleum and gas sector in Australia and Norway, was recently invited to consult with the Federal Government as part of a review of the regulation of that sector. Tina was invited to consult in Canberra with the Australian Productivity Commission and the Director-General of the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism on the ways in which Australia is able to relieve the regulatory burden, increase international competitiveness and enhance economic prosperity in this sector. Of particular interest to the government is the Norwegian Licencing system and how it could be implemented in the Australian petroleum and gas sector.
Well done also to student Nuku Hifo, who represented Bond at the University Rugby League World Cup, held in Brisbane earlier this month. Australia dominated the competition, securing significant wins in all pool matches before taking out the grand final, beating England 26 – 16. Nuku was selected to play Lock in the Australian Team after a solid performance for Queensland against NSW earlier in the Year.
STAFF AND STUDENTS - NOMINATE YOUR FAVOURITE LECTURER!
The National Lecturer of the Year competition gives an opportunity for staff and students to say thank-you and let our educators know their work is greatly valued and appreciated.
In 2007, over 20,000 nominations were placed and over 2,000 lecturers were nominated for the title. Nominations are now being accepted for this year, and will close on November 30. The winner will win a 5-night holiday in Fiji, and just by nominating your favourite lecturer, you can go into the draw to win an iPod.
Nominations can only be placed via the website www.lectureroftheyear.com.au by current Australian University staff and students. To be eligible for nominations, staff must be current lecturers for the year of 2008. You may only nominate a certain lecturer once; however, you are also able to nominate as many different lecturers who you believe to be deserving of the title.
If you know of a good success story, please share it with Public Relations Manager Kristie Welsh at kwelsh@bond.edu.au.
