The Library has welcomed several new staff in the past few months including three new Library Assistants who have joined the Customer Access Services team in the Main Library:
Sariah Angus joined in October 2006. Sariah has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in Hawaii and has library and customer service experience. Sariah is currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Maori Development through Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand and is looking forward to her three week trip to the USA and Hawaii.
Kimberley Layton came on board in January and has just completed a Master of Arts in Digital Publishing from Griffith University. She is now embarking on a Graduate Diploma in Information Studies from the University of South Australia, a course which complements her position as Library Assistant. Kimberley has previously worked in marketing and publishing and is keen on tennis having recently bought her first tennis racquet.
Louise Withecombe, from Devon UK, also commenced in January this year. Louise has a Masters of Research in Marine Biology from Plymouth University. Her aquatic career includes research with the Marine Biological Association, Plymouth, and a position at the Plymouth University Marine Biology Library. Louise is a keen surfer and scuba diver, and has recently joined the Kingscliff Soccer Club, as player and coach of the under 16’s girls.
A number of staff have ventured into new roles recently:
Chris Curtis is now the Liaison Librarian for the School of Social Sciences and Bond College providing specialised library and information services to the staff and students in those groups.
Antoinette Cass has taken on the role of Copyright Coordinator developing and implementing copyright policy and services. Antoinette will also be undertaking projects such as gathering research publication details for the Higher Education Research Data Collection.
Chris Hardy has taken the role as Law Library Assistant, during Emily Hibberd’s maternity leave with new baby daughter Tallulah.
