Last week was the annual student-run Bondstock event. I was fortunate to attend a number of the functions during the week of special activities, including the Bond Revue (which was a resounding success again this year) and the Student Gala Ball at Palazzo Versace on Saturday 14 October.

Bond University graduates have featured in the upper ranks of the Gold Coast Bulletin’s list of the 100 most powerful Gold Coasters, with one-quarter of the top 16 hailing from the local, private and not-for-profit University. Having been established in 1989, Bond was the first University on the Gold Coast.

When Terence Goldsworthy announced to his parents at the age of 17 that he wanted to be a policeman after years as a reluctant schoolboy, the last thing on anyone's mind was higher education.
But after almost 20 years of part-time study, Goldsworthy graduated last month from Bond University as a Doctor of Philosophy.
