NEW STUDENT ACCOUNT CREATION AND SUPPORT

The Student IT Account project has been a great success. All students who commenced study in January 2008 activated their IT Accounts via this new system including all Bond students, BUELI students and MyBondMBA.com students, who study remotely in Japan. | |

BOOK LAUNCH

 In September last year a Cocktail Reception was held in the Main Library to celebrate the launch of the book, Clinical Thinking: Evidence, Communication and Decision Making, the latest published works of Professor Chris Del Mar (Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, Bond University), Associate Professor Jenny Doust (University of Queensland) and Professor Paul Glasziou (University of Oxford). | |

EXTENDED OPENING HOURS FOR SERVICE DESK

From the beginning of Semester 1, computing and AV support hours have been extended through to 8.00pm. The aim of the additional hours of operation is to improve support for staff teaching in the evenings and to provide additional support for students. | |

UPDATE ON THE MULTIMEDIA LEARNING CENTRE

Construction of the Multimedia Learning Centre in the old Art Gallery space is fast approaching completion with all indications that it will indeed be the spectacular learning environment originally envisaged. | |

NEW SERVER ROOM
|
Following the opening of the New Server Room on the 29th of November 2007, Information Services have been actively engaged with the task of moving the production servers from the old server room to the new server room. | |

RefWorks
|
A subscription to RefWorks has recently provided Bond staff and students with an alternative, easy to use, web based service for managing references and producing bibliographies in styles such as APA 5th,Vancouver, Australian Guide to Legal Citation, or Harvard. Being web based, RefWorks folders of bibliographic references can be accessed anywhere the Internet is available at any time convenient to the user. | |

FAST LOANS
|
The Fast Loans self-checkout machine is now up and running at the loans desk in the Main Library and using this service couldn't be simpler. All you need to do is insert your student/staff card into the slot provided and follow the easy instructions displayed on the Fast Loans screen. | |

e-publications@bond is Bond University's digital repository which is managed by Information Services. It is a dynamic and growing electronic resource which contains a variety of items ranging from conference papers to Bond images, which are all easily accessible and downloadable. | |

It gives me great pleasure to update the Bond community about the outcomes of a number of projects accomplished in the last six months. The success of these projects is due to the perseverance of not only the Information Services staff, but also everyone else who contributed across the campus.

JOSHUA FRY
 Joshua Fry has joined Information Services as Service Delivery Manager with the level 3 Infrastructure support team.
LAWRENCE LIM
 Lawrence has been involved in IT since the days of the punch cards and has taken on a number of IT and Business management roles locally and internationally.
SARAH DERN
 Before Sarah commenced at Bond she studied for five years doing her Teaching degree and a Masters in Learning and Innovation (Teacher-Librarianship).
AARON HILL
Aaron Hill has joined Information Service in the new role of Senior Administrator for Infrastructure and Security. He chose to leave the warmer climate and organised chaos of Sydney to enjoy the lifestyle and rising flood waters of the Gold Coast.
Aaron has a strong IT background and is qualified with a CISSP security certification which, together with an easy going nature and sense of humour, equips him well for his new role at Bond University.
Aaron's favourite foods include spring rolls, pancakes and bacon. He does not enjoy country music and in his spare time is building an ark.
SARAH THORNING
Sarah Thorning joined Information Services as a Liaison Librarian in October last year taking on a half time position working closely with Janice Michel in liaising with the Health Science and Medicine Faculty.
